One year ago, I reviewed the Lumia 1520 and was left thoroughly impressed with its all-round flagship performance. Now, a year later, the Lumia 1520 still remains Nokia’s (or Microsoft Mobile’s) best Windows Phone to date (sorry, Lumia 930). So we’ve decided to revisit the Lumia 1520 to see how well it has aged after all these months, and more importantly, whether you should still get one.

Last week we had the opportunity to attend Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 Launch Preview Event in Singapore, where not only did we get to go hands on with the new tablet-PC, but also with the Xbox One and the brand new Nokia Lumia 930 (which should be releasing in Singapore within the week). Head past the break to find out more about Nokia’s Microsoft’s latest flagship phone.

When HTC announced the successor to the HTC One last week, many were intrigued by its dual rear cameras. Throughout the series of leaks before the unveiling, many people speculated as to what the cameras could do. June, 2012. Microsoft unveils the Surface tablet to lots of fanfare. The device, with its sleek magnesium body and keyboard touch cover, generated a lot of hype in the media. But unfortunately,it was met with much criticism and didn’t sell well. Microsoft even lost $900m on a price write-down.

Microsoft and Nokia have made a historical breakthrough with the Lumia 1520. And it’s not just the colossal size of the 6” beast. The Lumia 1520, essentially, marks a new beginning for Windows Phone, and especially for Nokia. It is a first in many things. The first Windows Phone phablet. The first Windows Phone with GDR3 and Lumia Black, bringing support for its monstrous 1080p display, 2.2Ghz Quad core Snapdragon 800 processor and 2 gigs of RAM, and (finally) the ability to close apps. The Lumia 1520 is here folks, so join us with the unboxing video after the break.
