The Pixel 9 Pro, the compact flagship from Google, is finally launching in Singapore on 24 Oct, more than 2 months after its announcement.

If you’re like me and you’ve been waiting years for a compact, true flagship from Google, the wait is almost over – Google has just confirmed the Pixel 9 Pro launch date for 24 Oct in Singapore.

Google initially announced the Pixel 9 series in August this year, earlier than its usual October launch. But there was a catch – while you could buy the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL from 22 Aug, you had to wait longer for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Pixel 9 Pro (non-XL).

It wasn’t so bad for the Fold – that was only delayed till 4 Sep. I’ve already put reviewed it, and loved it so much that I ended up buying one for my wife. But the Pixel 9 Pro was delayed much longer than that, with no indication on when it would arrive, other than just “later this year” as stated on Google Singapore’s website.

All this is in Singapore’s context of course. In several countries such as the US and Japan, the Pixel 9 Pro has been out for many weeks now. But other countries, such as Canada, Australia, and India, suffered a similar fate as Singapore; India is getting the Pixel 9 Pro on pre-order starting today, in fact.

So where and when will you be able to place your order for the Pixel 9 Pro in Singapore?

A spokesperson from Google’s PR agency has confirmed with Twenty First Tech that there won’t be any pre-orders for the Pixel 9 Pro. This means that you’ll only be able to put your money down for it when it officially launches on 24 Oct, next Thursday.

Fortunately it seems that you’ll be able to get the Pixel 9 Pro from quite a variety of retailers:

  • Google Store
  • Amazon SG
  • Challenger
  • COURTS
  • Singtel
  • Shopee
  • Lazada
  • SprintCass (Airport)

The Pixel 9 Pro will go for S$1,459 for 128GB, S$1,599 for 256GB, and S$1,779 for 512GB when it launches. It will be available in Porcelain, Rose Quartz, Hazel, and Obsidian, depending on your storage configuration.

While there aren’t any pre-orders for the Pixel 9 Pro in Singapore, there will likely still be launch deals when the device hits shelves on 24 Oct. Sources previously told us that the Google Store will be offering S$459 credit for each purchase of a Pixel 9 Pro, with other retailers having their own offers. None of these have been confirmed yet though; we’ll update this article once we get the details.

While many would have sprung for the vanilla Pixel 9 or the Pixel 9 Pro XL, there are others such as myself who have been holding out for the Pixel 9 Pro. Why? Because it offers something very rare – near spec parity with its bigger brother, but in a compact package. That’s something that Apple just pulled off with the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max – devices that were announced after the Pixel 9 Pro, but launched before it.

So there we have it, the Pixel 9 Pro is coming – more than 2 whole months after its announcement, and even after Android 15, which launched yesterday. Better late than never I guess.
