Xiaomi finally announced a week ago that the highly anticipated Redmi Note would be available in Singapore. The 1.7Ghz Octa-core 5.5″ phablet will be going on sale in Singapore on 8 July (that’s next Tuesday) for a low $199.
But Xiaomi had more to offer. In a surprise post today, it announced that the Redmi 1s will be available on the same day, retailing for the same price as the original Redmi for $169. With a much speedier Snapdragon 400 processor and double the storage, the Redmi 1s is a much greater deal than the Redmi, which was unfortunately let down by poor graphics performance from its MediaTek processor.
On a side note, the flagship Mi3 is selling for just $299.
Xiaomi has been a hit both in Singapore and worldwide. Recently it only took 1 second for it to sell 10,000 Redmi Notes in Taiwan. It’s likely that the Redmi Note will experience similar success in Singapore. Will you be getting one?
