It seems that the Surface Pro 2 will not be coming to Singapore at all. After the unveiling of the Surface Pro 3 (specs, pricing, and pre-order link here), Microsoft Singapore’s online store had been redesigned to feature only the RT-running Surface 2 and the newly-announced Surface Pro 3.
So does this mean that the Surface Pro 2 will not hit Singapore shores at all? It seems so. We reached out to Microsoft Singapore, though they were unable to confirm this, and we’ll update the article when they get back to us.
But from our analysis of the situation, it would be highly unlikely for the Surface Pro 2 to come to Singapore. It wasn’t a very huge upgrade from the Surface Pro to begin with. And, considering that the Surface Pro 3 is right around the corner (pre-orders are open NOW and will ship by end-August in Singapore), it wouldn’t make much sense for the Surface Pro 2 anyway.
Personally I feel that at around SGD$1,500 for the i5 128GB 8GB RAM configuration plus type cover, it’s pretty worth it, and I definitely would’ve pre-ordered one for myself if I hadn’t already purchased a MacBook Pro with Retina Display.
I just feel sorry for those who went out of their way to buy a (more expensive) Surface Pro 2 from overseas. No one saw the Surface Pro 3 coming.
