For too long, this has been the kind of standard which consumers have come to expect and Xiaomi has shattered this perception with their budget phone, the Redmi, also known as the Hongmi in China. Xiaomi does it again, the Mi3 is now only $299 off contract

Someone call the cops – Xiaomi has gone insane. The Mi3 (which is basically an LG G2 at way less than half the price. Read: VERY SOLID ‘2013 flagship material phone’) launched in Singapore retailing at a mouth-watering low of S$419. Following the launch of the One Plus One, Xiaomi decided to cut the price by $80 and gave it away for S$339. There’s no hiding that the Xiaomi Redmi took Singapore by storm when it launched a week ago. The device sold out within 8 minutes online after it launched, and just several days ago the new stock sold out yet again in 6 minutes.

Calling it a feat would be an understatement. The device sales were boosted mainly because of its unbelievably affordable $169 price tag and its above-average specs. A 4.7″ screen of 312ppi, a quad core processor, and it’s 8MP camera.
