Halo has been a revolutionary in the FPS genre, being one of the first to execute the balance of a strong plot, multiplayer and gunplay very well. What Bungie started back in 1999 has swelled to massive proportions, spanning books, TV series and short films today. 343 Industries took up the mantle from where Bungie left off with the launch of Halo 4 in 2012, which received generally positive reviews for the single player but was panned for its multiplayer. Then came the Master Chief Collection, a seemingly straightforward package of Halos 1 to 4 for the Xbox One, but it turned out to be a technical comedy of errors. With Halo 5: Guardians, the majority of the flaws of the previous games have been fixed, but new and more pressing ones have sprung up in its place. In a move that has surprised all of us, Bungie has decided to open up the Destiny Beta for everyone on the Playstation 3, 4, Xbox 360 and One – provided you have a PS+ or Xbox Live Gold membership.
A day ago, while many were rueing missing out on obtaining a download code for the Beta, Bungie threw the doors to its Beta wide open. Not only is this a welcome move from those desperate to play the game, but it is also great to see that Bungie is deciding to stress-test its servers in anticipation of the launch of the full game itself.
Halo: Spartan Assault has been available on Windows Phone 8 for some time now, but there isn’t a trial to take advantage of for a free go to see if the game is right for you. Now a lite version has been published that sports the first level to give you an insight into the gameplay and whether you feel it’s worth the price tag. Perfect if you’ve never jumped into the Halo universe before or are hesitant at playing a Spartan on the small screen. The highly anticipated Halo game is now available exclusively on Microsoft’s PC and Windows Phone operating systems. The game, which was announced a month ago, takes place in the time frame between Halo 3 and Halo 4, where the player gets to play as Sarah Palmer of the UNSC before she became the commander that we know in Halo 4.
