At S$894 for 6GB/128GB, the U11 is a pretty sweet deal
The HTC U11 can be purchased from Singtel and M1 or off contract on Lazada. For a limited time you can get a National Day promotion on Lazada which grants $104 off. This takes the off contract price down from S$998 to S$894, which is honestly a pretty good deal considering that this is the 6GB/128GB version of the device.
The HTC U11 is a phone of great internal hardware with mediocre external hardware. It has the best processor, a good amount of RAM, the best camera (according to DxOMark anyway), and waterproofing. But it has a bland design with bezels that would look large even next to 2015’s Galaxy Note 5, and it doesn’t have a headphone jack.
The fact that looks is the U11’s greatest flaw – and not its camera, software, or hardware – is certainly a good thing
Before writing my own review, I was sceptical of the positive reviews that the U11 was garnering. But after using the U11 for a couple of weeks, I must admit that I did enjoy the experience. The U11 is a reliable phone that ticks just about every box. If you don’t mind its slightly dated exterior, the U11 is certainly worth considering.
Given how the physical attractiveness of HTC phones used to be the source of envy in the Android world, it’s ironic that this is the U11’s greatest flaw. But then again, the fact that looks is the U11’s greatest flaw – and not its camera, software, or hardware – is certainly a good thing.
