Sony Mobile Singapore is pleased to announce that Sony Xperia C3, the ultimate new smartphone for selfies and social sharing, will be available locally from 30 August 2014 onwards. In conjunction with the launch, Sony Mobile Singapore has lined up a series of exciting activities with attractive prizes to be won.
The new Sony Xperia C3 – selfie king
The ultimate new smartphone for selfies and social sharing, the Xperia C3 combines Sony’s leading digital imaging technology and brilliant specs and performance, all for a mid-range price. Packed with a powerful 5 MP wide-angle front camera and a soft LED flash, and offering an array of selfie camera apps, users can get perfect selfies wherever, whenever.

|Display||5.5”, 720p (HD) IPS LCD display|
|Camera||8 MP rear, LED flash, 5 MP front|
|Video Recording||1080p/Full HD|
|Processor||1.2 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400|
|Storage||8 GB, micro-SD expandable|
|Battery||2500 mAh, non-removable battery|
|Other||FM Radio, NFC, LTE|
The Xperia C3 comes with some decidedly mid-range specs, but for a price of S$468, you’re also getting Sony’s excellent design, build quality and a massive 5.5 inch screen size. However, the processor is a let-down, being only a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 – the same that features in the Redmi Note available for S$169 (also with a 720p, 5.5 inch display).
Still, Xiaomi’s build may leave a lot to be desired, and Sony does offer one of the best Android skins available – in fact, MIUI v6 looks like a carbon copy of iOS 8, down to the tiniest of animations. Another worry is the low storage space of 8 GB, though Sony is experimenting with a work-around to allow users to install apps to the micro-SD card (this is not possible since Android 4.4 KitKat).
Sony WEFIE Challenge – win an Xperia C3
In partnership with SingTel, Sony Mobile Singapore will be running the Sony WEFIE challenge from 30 August to 25 September 2014. To participate, contestants need to submit a wefie (a selfie with friends) of themselves with as many friends as they can in the most creative pose they can think of! All entries are to be posted on either Facebook or Instagram, together with the hashtags #SonyWefie and #SingTelC3. Judges votes and the number of public likes will determine the winners.
To get bonus likes, all you need to do is to sign up for SingTel’s new Combo plan! Winners will be notified and announced on 26 September 2014, both on air via 98.7 FM, as well as online via the radio station’s Facebook Page and the Sony Mobile SG Facebook Page. The top 3 entries will win a Sony Xperia C3, a selfie stick with Bluetooth, a screen protector and case, additional 2GB local data for the first 12 months, on top of the new SingTel Combo plan subscriptions, and 30% off Sony accessories when purchased at SingTel stores.
Members of the public can also experience first-hand the slim and sleek Xperia C3 from 5 to 7 September 2014, at the Orchard Gateway Outdoor Atrium from 12PM – 9PM. Participants can engage in a series of exciting activities with attractive prizes to be won!
The Xperia C3 is available exclusively from SingTel from 30 August 2014 with a Combo plan subscription or at the recommended retail price of S$468 without contract. With the Combo plan, subscribers get to enjoy an additional 2GB local data for the first 12 months (30 August 2014 – 26 September 2014). It is available in three colours: black, white and mint.
