Microsoft has rebranded its Office Web Apps as Office online, encouraging users with Microsoft accounts to collaborate and work on documents online via Office.com.
The biggest features are online real time co-authoring (a la Google Docs), integration with OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive), and a whole bunch of new templates for Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
Think of it as Google docs, but better. You can even choose to edit it via Office 2013 on your PC (if you have it), and guess what, real time co-authoring is available there as well.
While this feature isn’t exactly new, the rebranding should help MS get more people to use their cloud service, and the newly rebranded OneDrive.
