Android 4.4 Kitkat was announced with quite a bit of fanfare on September 3, and it certainly looks to give the recently released iOS 7 some stiff competiton. Preliminary image leaks show the interface to be much more flatter and cleaner, as evidenced below.
Android 4.4 Kitkat is one of the two highly anticipated products about to be released by Google. The other one is the LG Nexus 5, which we provided many FCC image leaks, as well as images and videos of the phone left in a bar. It is supposedly packing flagship level specs, as seen in a GFXBenchmarks leak all at a very affordable off contract price of $299 USD. These screenshots are supposedly of the newly redesigned phone dialer and messaging apps on KitKat.
Aside from that, the logos of many familiar apps such as Google Music, Google Chrome, Messaging and Phone have been modified to reflect a flatter and simpler look.
The screenshots above show new lighter color, grey icons on the status bar, which lines up with our leaked video of the Nexus 5 and a screenshot for a Google Keyboard update spotted by AndroidPolice yesterday. Recent rumors point to an October release date for the Nexus 5, and if history is any indication,Google will also debut Android 4.4 alongside the new Nexus device.
