It’s not very often that you get news about Blackberry, but today the Blackberry Q5 is now available in Singtel and Starhub. (We’re not too sure about M1 yet). The Blackberry Q5 is the latest offering from Blackberry which was announced back in May and sports the brand new BB10 software. So what’s the Q5 all about? Find out after the break.
The Blackberry Q5 revolves around a 3.1-inch touchscreen and one of BlackBerry’s classic physical QWERTY keyboards, which they are so proud of. The screen has an unusual resolution of 720 x 720px – the same as on the Q10, but this time it’s an LCD unit. Inside the BlackBerry Q5 there’s a dual-core 1.2Ghz CPU, 2 gigs of RAM and 8 gigs worth of storage. There’s a microSD slot to expand that, but the 2180mAh battery is not removable. It also houses a 5MP back camera which shoots 1080p video at 30fps and a 2MP front shooter.
Not bad indeed, especially for a device that is targeted for the emerging markets. It has almost exactly the same features of the Q10, but at a much more acceptable price. All you have is a slightly poorer camera, and the same processor, just that its downclocked, and an LCD screen instead of AMOLED. But hey, it even has LTE on board.
Going for $188 on Singtel’s Flexi Lite Plan, it comes in black and white and seems to be a much more sensible option than the insane price of $518 that the Q10 is asking for. You can check out the device on Singtel’s website here. The device is currently not listed on Starhub’s website, but we’ve managed to find out the price from checking out a store ad (below)
